Dynalifter
Its official. Ohio Airships has
selected Alliances Barber Airport as home for
Dynalifter 1, the two-seat prototype hybrid of
winged aircraft and helium airship. For months,
Ohio Airships had been considering several
locations in Stark and Summit Counties. The
company weighed several factors while searching
for the perfect airport including cost,
available resources, potential for expansion and
a willingness to host an experimental aircraft
project. Barber Airport rated the highest in all
of these areas, thus making it an easy
choice.
Ohio Airships has designed three
different lines of Dynalifters (R); Patrollers,
Explorers and Freighters. The small two-person
Dynalifter Patrollers will be produced first.
Operated by Ohio Airships, Patrollers will
provide a unique solution for Homeland Security
in large cities. Dynalifter Patrollers will
provide a friendly and inexpensive alternative
to military aircraft currently being used for
Homeland Security missions.
Third-party
advertising on the aircraft sides will directly
offset the cost of such missions. Law
enforcement will be offered weekly a free block
of hours in which to use the patrollers. Ohio
Airships hopes to have Dynalifter Patroller
operations in all major United States cities by
the end of the decade.
After years of
successful Patroller operations, a variation of
Patrollers will be offered for sale to the
general public. These aircraft will be known as
Dynalifter Explorers. For the past 100 years,
aviation has been searching for a personal
aircraft that had mass appeal. Dynalifters
breakthroughs in safety and cost make it a
likely candidate to appeal to non-pilots as well
as pilots.
The large Dynalifter
Freighters are being designed to fulfill the
middle market of transoceanic freight shipping.
Shipping within the US is highly efficient
because of the choices between aircraft, trucks,
and trains. Shipping over the oceans is a
different matter with only two choices for
transport: expensive jet aircraft and slow
surface ships. Dynalifters will help resolve
this inefficiency by providing a medium
speed/medium cost alternative for transoceanic
shipping.
The next step for Ohio
Airships is to construct the Dynalifter 1
assembly hangar at Barber Airport. Following
completion of the hangar, the company will begin
constructing components of the aircraft, while
others will be produced in different locations
around the country. Once the aircraft has been
assembled, Barber Airport will be used as the
location for FAA certification and flight
testing.
Ohio Airships, Inc. is a
privately held corporation located in Mantua.
The companys business is bringing breakthrough
aircraft technology to the marketplace. Ohio
Airships currently owns the Dynalifter aircrafts
conceptual airframe design and the patent for
its unique internal configuration. Dynalifters
are being designed to be safer and cheaper than
conventional aircraft. The company has
discovered that aircraft can achieve these
features by supplementing the dynamic lift
produced by traditional aircraft wings with
reusable, helium lift. Ohio airships currently
has a range of opportunities available including
investment, sponsorship, commissioned sales and
volunteering. For contact information, visit
www.dynalifter.com.
Forrest Barber, owner
of Barber Airport in Alliance said, I have
designated approximately two-and-a-half acres on
the north side of the airport to construct a
temporary building to house the Dynalifter 1
prototype. The building will start to go up in
the next three weeks.
