In 2003, the US Military established a
specific need for ultra-large, hybrid airships. The primary purpose for
such a vehicle would be cargo delivery from “fort to fight”, or directly
from the continental US to wherever a conflict arises. This would
eliminate a response gap of one week in the event of a global military
emergency. During the last two major conflicts, a military buildup time of
over one month was necessary because of the slow speed of Navy supply
ships. The military publicly admits that its primary constraint is the
speed and cost of logistics. Dynalifter® Freighters could change this
fact. OAI has conducted formal briefings at the
Pentagon for DARPA, the Office of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Army
Logistics, Air Force Futures, Air Force Procurement, Army Procurement, and
NATO regarding Dynalifter capabilities and company progress. OAI is working with Agilecast, Inc., a company whose core
competency is “Proposing New Technologies to the Military”, to receive
government funding for the development and production of a heavy-lift
Dynalifter prototype.
